Bernardo Silva has reportedly told Manchester City he intends to leave at the end of the season, bringing an end to a highly successful spell at the club.

The 31-year-old is said to have formally communicated his decision, with his current contract nearing expiration and no agreement reached over an extension.

End of a trophy-laden era

Silva’s departure would close a nine-year chapter at the Etihad, during which he played a key role under Pep Guardiola.

The Portuguese midfielder has won multiple major honours, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, establishing himself as one of the club’s most influential figures.

His exit is expected to leave a gap both on and off the pitch, with Silva widely regarded as a leader within the squad and a tactically versatile player in Guardiola’s system.

Replacement plans and transfer interest

City are already assessing potential replacements, with Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson among the names linked to a midfield rebuild.

Meanwhile, Silva has attracted interest across Europe. Barcelona is believed to be his preferred destination, although financial constraints could complicate any move.

Other clubs monitoring the situation include Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli, while teams in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer are also exploring possibilities.

Focus remains on season run-in

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Silva remains part of City’s plans for the remainder of the campaign.

The club are currently chasing the league leaders Arsenal and face a crucial run of fixtures that could define their season.
