The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a six-hour power outage affecting several parts of Abuja and surrounding communities on Tuesday. JoinDiaspora Networks
The scheduled outage is the result of planned annual maintenance work at the company’s 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation, taking place between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that an annual maintenance exercise will be carried out at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm,” TCN stated.
As a direct consequence of the maintenance exercise, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to supply electricity to several major residential and commercial hubs during the six-hour window. The disruption impacts areas including Dawaki, Gwarinpa, Dutse Alhaji, parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, parts of Jiwa, Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba, and adjacent neighborhoods.
