Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has shed light on his current relationship with fellow comic Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth.
Both entertainers, who rose to prominence around the same period and once shared the stage on several stand-up comedy projects, have since taken different paths in their careers. These days, each focuses mainly on running independent shows.
Speaking in a recent interview, Bovi clarified that there is no animosity between him and Basketmouth.
He further explained that his priorities have shifted in recent years, as he now dedicates more time to his family while also pursuing growth in film and television.
“We are cool. Nothing happened (between us). Interests changed, especially for me. I wanted to focus, spend more time with family. I wanted to also elevate myself,” he said.
“I easily get bored with things. When I do something for too long, I try to do something else. As you know I started to do film. As you know I went back to TV. I wanted to build my own brand. I needed the world to know that I can stand with the mic endlessly and talk. I also started to think that when I blow the whistle and host shows at Eko Hotels and it fills up, why should I go and share money? Why should we be many and do just one show?”
