BREAKING: Nigeria records 436 new COVID-19 cases, total now 20,244

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 436 new cases of coronavirus in the country.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 20,244.

This was announced by the NCDC on its website on Sunday.

The centre also announced that 12 other patients in the country have died from coronavirus-related complications.

A breakdown of the data on the NCDC website, which The PUNCH obtained, showed that Nigeria currently has 12,847 active COVID 19 cases.

It said: “On 21 June 2020, Nigeria had 436 new confirmed cases and 12 deaths.

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“To date, 20244 cases have been confirmed, 6879 cases discharged and 518 deaths registered in 35 states and the federal capital area.

“The 436 new cases were reported from 19 states – Lagos (169), Oyo (52), Plateau (31), Imo (29), Kaduna (28), Ogun (23), FCT (18), Enugu (18), Bauchi (17), Bayelsa (14), rivers (8), Osun (6), Kano (6), Edo (5), Benue (5), Adamawa (3), Borno (2), Abia (1), Ekiti (1). ”
