A British-born publishing heir has d!ed in a plane crash in Guatemala along with his pregnant wife.
Harald Undrum, 53, and his wife Judith Mazariegos, 26, were on board a Cessna 182P Skylane, which crashed under unknown circumstances near Villa Hermosa, south of San Marcos, on Sunday, March 15.
The couple died alongside a footballer and a doctor in the tragic crash.
Undrum was the heir to Christian Schibsted, the founder of a Norwegian publishing and media group called Schibsted.
His wife Judith’s family confirmed their death to Norwegian news outlet Dagbladet.
She was six months pregnant at the time of the crash, according to a statement made by a rescuer on Guatemalan TV.
Undrum was born in London before being adopted by the Norwegian Schibsted family. They are known for owning major Scandinavian newspapers.
The plane crash occurred on Sunday evening in a mountainous area in the municipality of Esquipulas Palo Gordo.
After receiving an alert, personnel from the Municipal Departmental Firefighters of the San Pedro Sacatepéquez station in San Marcos were dispatched to the scene.
Rescuers from units RD-30 and AD-122 of San Pedro Sacatepéquez, San Marcos, arrived shortly after.
The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics said that personnel from the Accident Investigation Unit were dispatched to the site to collect evidence and investigate the cause of the crash.
Upon arriving at the crash site, rescuers located the partially destroyed aircraft and three deceased passengers. They managed to pull a fourth occupant out alive.
‘At the scene, three deceased individuals were found: two adult males and a pregnant woman. A male with multiple injuries was stabilized and transported to the San Marcos Regional Hospital,’ a firefighter’s statement said.
However, the man later d!ed in the emergency room of the National Hospital of San Marcos, according to Guatemalan news outlet Soy502.
‘The Guatemalan Army remains at the service of the population, collaborating closely with civilian institutions in times of crisis,’ military authorities stated in a report.
