A manhunt has been launched after a British citizen was sh0t de@d during an alleged robbery in Ghana.

Ashraf Qarmar Parvez, 68, was sh0t after he tried to stop an attempt to steal his phone at a drinking spot in Tema, a city to the east of the Ghanaian capital, Accra. He later d!ed in hospital, police said.

According to local police, the British man was sitting with a group in a popular drinking spot when six young men pulled up on motorbikes.

Two of the men on the bikes walked up to their table, while another snatched his phone, according to Modern Ghana reports.

When the Brit tried to get his phone back, one of the gang pulled out a gun and in the ensuing chaos he was sh0t.

A 9mm spent shell was recovered from the scene and is now with the police to be processed for evidence.

A police statement read: ‘Two of the assailants approached the group, and one of them snatched the victim’s mobile phone from the table.

When the victim attempted to retrieve his phone, one of the suspects shot, and the gang fled the scene on their motorbikes.

‘The Tema Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale operation to track down the perpetrators.

‘Efforts are ongoing to contact the British Embassy to officially notify them of the death of their national.

‘The Command assures the public that every effort is being made to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.’

The UK Foreign Office said it was supporting the family of a man who had died.
