Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has sparked conversation nationwide after laying out firm instructions on how he wants to be buried when he eventually passes on.

Fayose, who marked his 65th birthday on Friday, stated that his remains should be handed over to the Ekiti State Government and interred within four weeks. He noted that the burial must be handled strictly by the state authorities alongside his children.

According to him:

“When I die, my body belongs to the Ekiti State Government, and I must be buried within four weeks. My children must work with the state government during the burial. I created a garden in my grandmother’s house where I want to be laid to rest, and after that, no one should return there. Let me rest.”

His remarks, however, drew a heated response from his brother, Isaac Fayose, who used the former governor’s birthday message to issue a strongly worded criticism.

Isaac described the ex-governor as “the most selfish brother anyone could have,” expressing hope that turning 65 would inspire a change in his character.

He added:

“You have betrayed everyone who ever stood by you… I pray the spirit of selfishness leaves you so you can finally become a good man.”
