A video of a Nigerian man criticizing football star Victor Osimhen for purchasing a ₦3 billion mansion has sparked widespread discussion online.

Victor Osimhen, forward for the Super Eagles and Galatasaray, recently drew attention during a live stream with content creator Carter Efe, where he showcased his lavish ₦3 billion home and high-end cars. Reports indicate that the mansion is a two-storey property located in Hampton Lake, Lekki, Lagos State.

In the viral clip, the man questioned Osimhen’s financial priorities, calling the acquisition of such an expensive house a “mistake” and urging him to invest his wealth in ways that could benefit Nigerians.

He repeatedly expressed his disapproval, stating:

“Osimhen, so you get mind, go buy house of 3 billion Naira. Bro, that’s financial mistake.”

The critic also challenged the footballer on his impact on ordinary citizens, asking:

“Bro, Osimhen, what have we gained from you since you became a superstar? Nigerian poor masses, what have we gained from you? Nothing.”

According to him, wealthy entertainers and athletes in Nigeria should do more to support societal development instead of focusing solely on luxury lifestyles. He suggested that public figures channel their resources into initiatives that create jobs and improve living conditions, particularly given the country’s economic challenges.

“I’m not saying you shouldn’t enjoy your money, but since the government isn’t doing enough, those of you with wealth should show support to the less privileged,” he said.

He further recommended that Osimhen consider selling the mansion and using the funds for affordable housing projects and other local development efforts:

“Sell the house and get your money back… then invest it in your country and create jobs. That’s how you can truly contribute to development.”

The man also compared Osimhen to other Nigerian celebrities, such as Burna Boy, who he believes are more socially responsible in how they use their earnings. He recalled Osimhen’s discussion with Carter Efe, noting that the footballer ranked football above music in terms of income.

“Ok, what have we gained from you, Osimhen? You people should learn from Burna Boy. That boy is trying a lot,” he added.

Speaking passionately, he highlighted underdevelopment in rural communities, pointing out that some areas still lack basic infrastructure despite the success of famous Nigerians.

“The worst part is that if you visit his village, it might still look underdeveloped,” he said.

He concluded with a direct appeal to Osimhen, urging him to rethink his financial choices:

“I pray for you always. Please return that ₦3 billion house… that’s a big financial mistake, my man.”
