Rivers United captain, Austin Festus can’t hide his excitement after his side defeated Democratic Republic of Congo outfit, DC Motema Pembe on Sunday night.

The Pride of Rivers won the CAF Confederation Cup matchday three encounter 1-0.

Ghanaian star, Paul Acquah scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute.

It was Stanley Eguma’s side’s first away win in the competition this season.

Rivers United played the entire second half with 10-men after left-back, Ebube Duru was sent off for a rough tackle.

“We are delighted with this win. It was tough especially after we had a player sent off late in the first half,” Festus told DAILY POST.

“The most important thing now is to build on this in our subsequent games.”

The Nigerian champions moved to top position in Group B following the win.

The Port Harcourt club will entertain Motema Pembe in the reverse fixture this weekend.
