I walked down the aisle on my wedding day with masked bruises – Woman accuses her husband of domestic violence

A Kenyan woman, Nyambura Mburu has opened up on the domestic violence she allegedly endured throughout her 13-year marriage.

In a series post on her Instagram stories on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Nyambura shared graphic photos of the bruises she had sustained and recounted the horrific abuse she suffered allegedly at the hands of her husband, a film and video director.

She also detailed the physical and emotional toll the alleged abuse took on her for over a decade.

According to Nyambura, she was allegedly beaten with electric cables, belts, TV and hangers, all while hiding her pain behind a smile for years.

The photos show her face with a red bloodshot eye, a swollen lump on the side of her forehead, swollen thighs with bruise marks and bruising under her eyes.

She also accused her husband of constant cheating and dishonoring of their marriage.

Nyambura further alleged that he assaulted her the night before their wedding and she had to walk down the aisle with bruises concealed under makeup.

Nyambura said she endured the alleged abuse for 13 years until the day he allegedly assaulted her while she was pregnant, endangering the lives of her babies.

“The man I married broke me. Beating me up with electric cables, belts, hangers, I walked down the aisle on my wedding day with masked bruises. I lied for years because you made me believe you will change… but that wasn’t enough…the countless affairs…cheating and dishonouring this marriage…I did not deserve that…but even then I survived… only God knows how,” Nyambura wrote

“I was 19 when you met me, you were 9 years older than me, I would have been anything you needed me to be, a ronin operator, camera girl, assistant this and that, but instead you made me an abuse survivor. You destroyed me… I didn’t deserve any of it. For 13 years I kept the smile, while dying behind closed doors… until one day you kicked my babies out of my womb and they ended in NICU… They survived you too.

18-year-old man st@bs 15-year-old boy in love triangle dispute

An 18-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly st@bbing a 15-year-old boy in the chest over a misunderstanding that escalated into a suspected love triangle conflict in Nkulumane, Zimbabwe.

The violent altercation occurred at Sokusile Shopping Centre on July 19, 2025, leaving the younger teenager hospitalised at Mpilo Hospital with a serious but non-fatal wound.

According to reports, the victim was simply receiving academic help from a female classmate when her boyfriend, 18-year-old Qhawelenkosi Mnkandla, allegedly misconstrued the interaction as a romantic encounter and confronted him.

Principal Prosecutor Milton Moyo told the Western Commonage Court that the accused approached the victim over what he believed was a romantic rivalry.

“The suspect allegedly confronted the victim about a rumoured romantic involvement,” Moyo said. “The verbal exchange escalated, resulting in the accused allegedly producing a knife and inflicting a chest wound.”

Emergency services were called to the scene and the injured boy was rushed to hospital for treatment. He is reported to be recovering.

Mnkandla was brought before Magistrate Sibongile Marondedze and granted bail under strict conditions. These include a ban on contacting any witnesses, a requirement to remain at his current address, and a mandate to report weekly to Nkulumane Police Station.

The case has been adjourned to August 8, 2025.

Woman charged with attempted murd3r after giving minor son a drug pipe to smoke

A woman from Newclare, Johannesburg, South Africa, who was captured on video instructing her young son to light and smoke from what appeared to be a drug pipe, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, July 31, alongside three men alleged to have been present during the incident.

The disturbing footage, which went viral on Tuesday, triggered public outrage and led to the swift arrest of the woman by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) later that night. Two of the men were arrested the same evening, while the third suspect was apprehended on Wednesday.

All four are facing charges of attempted murder and child abuse for allegedly exposing the child to harmful substances. The group has indicated plans to apply for Legal Aid representation. The case has been postponed to August 4.

The child involved, initially believed to be three years old, is actually four, the court heard. He has since been taken to a place of safety after undergoing a medical assessment in hospital.

“The video depicted the child lighting drugs in a bottle neck for his mother, who then encouraged him to smoke, all in the presence of other adults,” the JMPD stated earlier this week.

According to authorities, the mother was located following a tip-off. “When questioned, she identified two other individuals present in the video, including the person who recorded it,” JMPD said. “All three suspects confessed to using Mandrax and admitted to filming the incident. Their cellphones were confiscated as evidence.”

Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that members of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit are investigating the case.

“The FCS in Gauteng has 22 units strategically located in the province servicing 146 police stations,” she said. “There are at least 66 detectives on standby from FCS after hours to attend to cases related to their mandate.”

31 houses razed in Gwagwalada communal clash after herders k!lled farmer

A communal clash between Fulani and Gwari residents in Gurfata village, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has left one person d3ad and at least 31 houses destroyed.

The violent confrontation, which occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 was reportedly triggered by a disagreement between a Fulani man, Shaibu Adamu, and a Gwari farmer known as Sa’adu, over access through a farmland path.

Sources in the community said the dispute began around 10:30 a.m. when Adamu attempted to walk through Sa’adu’s farmland without cattle. The farmer objected, insisting he use another route.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, an argument ensued, escalating into a physical altercation that left both men with minor injuries.

The incident quickly reignited ethnic tensions in the village, with both communities mobilising in solidarity with the parties involved.

The situation worsened when Adamu Ibrahim, elder brother to Shaibu, allegedly attacked a Gwari resident, Dahiru Yakubu, with a machete.

Yakubu was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he later d!ed from his injuries.

The news of his d3ath sparked a reprisal attack by enraged Gwari youths, who descended on the Fulani settlement in Gurfata, burning down 31 houses and injuring at least three individuals.

The troops of the Nigerian Army as well as other joint Security personnel were later deployed to the area to halt the violence and restore calm.

Authorities have appealed for peace and urged both communities to exercise restraint.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to mediate between the groups and prevent further escalation.

As of Wednesday, normalcy had returned to the village, though tensions remain high.
