Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has explained why he decided to leave Gabriel Jesus out of his Champions League squad.
Jesus has been excluded from the Gunners’ list of 25 players submitted to UEFA.
Arsenal’s A-list for the Champions League includes just three forwards: Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli.
Arteta, speaking to reporters on Friday, said the Brazilian striker is still recovering from a major surgery.
He said: “He had a major surgery and it was going to take him many, many months.
So, after discussing that with the medical staff and understanding the schedule that we had and when we thought that he could be available.
“That it would be between December and January, we decided to make that call.”
