Chelsea Football Club have reportedly added 33 players to their UEFA Champions League squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League game against Ajax.
Enzo Maresca’s side are looking to build on their recent run of form, having beaten Benfica last time out in the Champions League before boasting wins against Liverpool and, most recently, Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Currently, the west London side are 19th in the 36-team league phase after two games with three points. Chelsea are currently placed on 19th place with three points after the defeat and victory over Bayern Munich and Benfica respectively.
However these players will be added to the B squad which is generally accepted by the governing body in Europe, UEFA. According to the rule
clubs must not have more than 25 players on their List A in one season.
A minimum of eight places are also reserved for ‘locally trained’ and ‘club-trained’ players, while four are kept for ‘association-trained players’. The clubs must confirm which category each player falls under.
Chelsea will hope to continue in winning ways as they head into the game against Ajax and other subsequent games in the competition as they look to finish in the top eight clubs which will give them automatic qualification to the second round.
