Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Norwich City’s Alex Matos.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Matos is set to join the west London club on a free transfer, with the deal to include add-ons.
The Blues are eager to have a very strong Under-21 side for next season, with Jim Fraser, the club’s head of youth development and recruitment, having identified Matos, 18, as a player with much potential.
Matos can perform effectively as a central midfielder or out wide.
The 18-year-old has made 13 appearances for Norwich’s Under-21 team in the second tier of Premier League 2 and has registered three assists so far this season.
Matos signed a scholarship contract with Norwich in the summer of 2021.
