Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gave fans in Melbourne a scare after he accidentally fell through a trapdoor on stage during the band’s “Music of the Spheres” tour. The mishap occurred during their fourth and final Melbourne show when Martin, reading signs held by fans in the crowd, took a step back and plunged into the open space.

In a viral video of the incident, Martin is seen falling backward, but he was fortunately caught by a quick-thinking crew member before hitting the stage floor. The audience gasped in surprise, but the singer bounced back quickly, jokingly assuring fans that the fall wasn’t part of the show and thanking the crew member who saved him from injury.

Martin continued with the performance without any sign of injury, much to the relief of the crowd. Coldplay’s tour moves on to Sydney and Auckland in the coming days, with fans eagerly awaiting the next shows.

Interestingly, Martin isn’t the only star to take an unexpected fall on stage in recent weeks. Singer Olivia Rodrigo also stumbled through a trapdoor at a Melbourne arena in October, though she, too, escaped unscathed and completed her performance.

Despite the brief mishap, the show went on, and Coldplay left Melbourne fans with an unforgettable night.
