Barcelona, on Thursday night, set an unwanted record after their 4-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.

The Blaugrana was beaten away in the first leg of the semi-final of the Copa del Rey tie at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium.

Goals from Eric García (OG), Antoine Griezmann, Ademola Lookman, and Julian Alvarez ensured Diego Simeone’s side defeated the Catalan club.

However, according to OptaJose, the outcome of the match means Barcelona have conceded four goals at halftime for only the second time since at least the 2004/05 season.

The other occasion was in the Champions League in August 2020 against Bayern Munich, losing 2-8 in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg fixture will take place in March.
