Actor and content creator Udaya Awesome Chidiebere, popularly known as Deacon Famous, has intensified his public dispute with former close friend Ekene Umenwa following the breakdown of their relationship.
The rift between the two Nollywood figures became obvious after they unfollowed each other on social media, with both sides making allegations and counter-allegations online.
In a recent video, Deacon Famous alleged that Ekene claimed she covered the cost of his wife’s hair and makeup during his wedding. He warned that he would not tolerate further comments about his spouse and threatened to take serious action if she continued.
He further stated that Ekene had insisted he patronise her preferred vendors for the ceremony and allegedly influenced them in ways that complicated arrangements. Despite this, he said he proceeded with the wedding plans. According to him, she handled payments to the vendors, and he ended up paying twice for some services.
To support his claims, Deacon Famous shared screenshots of bank transfers he said were made to Ekene for wedding-related expenses. The receipts included payments of N700,000 and N185,000, which he explained were for hair and makeup services.
Although he said he had previously resolved not to address the issue publicly again, he explained that recent remarks about his wife prompted his response. He maintained that while he could ignore personal attacks, he would not accept comments directed at his spouse.
The situation has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some advised him to avoid escalating the matter further, while others expressed continued support for Ekene, saying they trust her character. A few critics, however, argued that the controversy reflects concerns that have been raised about the actress in the past and cautioned her against using religion to mask alleged misconduct.
