Deeone Urges Peter Obi To Reconsider Campaign Strategy Amid Tinubu Support

Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martin, better known as DeeOne, has urged Peter Obi to rethink his political approach, highlighting the contrast between Obi’s modest campaign style and the substantial financial backing enjoyed by President Bola Tinubu.

In a recently shared video, DeeOne drew attention to the disparity, noting that while Obi has maintained a cautious and frugal campaign, influential southeastern businessmen have been pouring resources into supporting Tinubu’s re-election efforts.

He specifically mentioned figures such as Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, and executives from Zenco and C-Energy, who have contributed vehicles and funds to bolster Tinubu’s grassroots mobilisation in the region. DeeOne revealed that Zenco alone provided over 200 buses, with other donors supplying additional vehicles to strengthen local outreach.

These contributions were coordinated through the City Boy Movement, a coalition of Igbo business leaders from the five southeastern states focused on promoting Tinubu’s achievements and preparing for his 2027 re-election campaign.

DeeOne contrasted this with Obi’s more restrained tactics, pointing out instances where the former Labour Party candidate was seen negotiating over small items, like groundnuts, during campaign stops. He argued that in Nigeria’s political landscape, such frugality may not be sufficient to compete effectively.

He emphasized that successful political campaigns require significant investment and preparation, warning that without matching the financial and logistical support of Tinubu’s backers, Peter Obi could risk falling behind.

Read some comments below:

@Dannymasterp:”A man that cannot be able to organize ordinary Obident movement that was given to him for free, was not able to manage the affairs of Labor Party yet you think he’s serious about been a president. Never!!!”

@ezikepeace1:”So in essence what are you trying to tell him?? You people just want everyone to be c0rrupt in this country.”

@GIbadin:”But you just contradicted yourself. Zenco and other names you mentioned are spending their money to buy busses for Tinubu. You that is talking, which one have you bought for Peter Obi?”

@Kontrolzee:”Lowkey ehn, I feel Peter Obi is just playing Tinubu/APC’s cards, I won’t be surprised if APC gives him one significant post after the forthcoming election.”

@iamthatOpsGuy:”You cannot run a Tier-1 nation on a ‘petty trader’ budget. If your own kinsmen are donating to the Asiwaju, it’s because they prefer a President who knows how to create wealth over one who only knows how to ‘save’ poverty. Case closed.”
