Former Big Brother Naija “Lockdown” housemate, Neo Akpofure, has recounted how a brief encounter with renowned music producer Don Jazzy changed the course of his life ten years ago.
In a recent Instagram post, Neo revealed that he was unexpectedly chosen as the winner of the MTV Base trivia contest, A Day with Don Jazzy, a decade ago.
The prize was an all-expense-paid trip to South Africa alongside Don Jazzy and the Mavin Records team. However, Neo, who was then studying at the University of Calabar, could not embark on the trip because of his final examinations.
As an alternative, he was flown to Lagos, where he met Don Jazzy in person and received ₦500,000 as compensation an experience he described as a turning point that reignited his ambitions.
“That single encounter made me believe I could truly be whoever I wanted to be,” Neo wrote. “It reignited a fire in me that no circumstance could put out. Today, a decade later, I look back with so much gratitude. To Don Jazzy, who without even knowing, re-inspired my dreams thank you. To God, who has kept every promise He made to me thank you. I am a living testimony that when grace speaks, destiny listens.”
Reacting to the post, Don Jazzy praised Neo, writing: “Bro GOD got you. You are destined for greatness. Everybody I know that knows you always has amazing things to say about you. Makes me happy and I’m proud to have a line or two in your book. More blessings ahead.”
