Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has advised Nigerians to exercise caution with the information they encounter online, stressing that social media should not control anyone’s life.
He shared these thoughts during an appearance on The Morayo Show on YouTube, hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where he addressed discussions surrounding his personal life and the controversies linked to his former marriage.
Adebayo noted that choosing to live in the public eye means that every detail of one’s life true or false can become headline news. He emphasized that staying true to one’s conscience and faith is far more important than public opinion, highlighting that being right with God and living honorably should take priority over what people say online.
While acknowledging that the public has a curiosity about the lives of celebrities, he warned against taking everything posted online at face value, as both accurate and misleading stories circulate freely. He illustrated this with an example of exaggerated reports about his wealth, mentioning claims that he owned multiple mansions at a time when he didn’t own any.
His remarks come as renewed attention surrounds his past relationship with Omotayo Sanusi, also known as Iyan Aladuke. Their marriage, once celebrated, eventually ended in separation. Later, reports emerged that Sanusi had been evicted from a Lagos property associated with her business. Family members clarified that the property was obtained through a bank loan and that foreclosure occurred due to repayment difficulties, insisting the eviction was not directly linked to Adebayo.
During the interview, Adebayo also spoke about his personal brand, emphasizing his commitment to good conduct and ensuring his work does not negatively impact others. He concluded by reminding viewers to approach social media content carefully, noting the prevalence of misinformation.
On a lighter note, when asked about his fashion sense, he described himself as youthful, stylish, and smart, explaining that he dresses according to what suits him and is appropriate for each occasion.
