Social media critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has taken to social media to express his anger at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the agency of holding on to his phones since his arrest in May 2025.

In the video, he demanded that the EFCC either take him to court or return his devices immediately.

VeryDarkMan emphasized that the phones are crucial for his business engagements, especially in creating opportunities for Nigerian youths through partnerships with Chinese companies. Despite not being charged or prosecuted, he revealed that the EFCC has refused to hand back his property.

He lamented that being cut off from his contacts has prevented him from supporting those who rely on him. He also suggested that influential business figures may be responsible for the continued delay, alleging that their interference is frustrating his efforts to connect Nigerian youths with manufacturers and production firms in China.

According to him, the commission has still not disclosed the reason for his arrest months after the incident.

Sharing his frustrations, he wrote:

“I am begging you to either take me to court or give me my phones. I went to China, made connections with manufacturers and CEOs of production companies. This cost me time and money. All of this I did to help many Nigerian youths explore business opportunities, such as importing goods. You all have my phone, and it is restricting me from helping people. GIVE ME MY PHONES OR TAKE ME TO COURT AND TELL NIGERIANS WHAT I DID.”

Recall that his arrest in May 2025 sparked wide media attention. The EFCC had invited him for questioning over alleged financial crimes, after which he was detained but later released without trial.
