Gunmen suspected to be cultists have k!lled a physiotherapist with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

Daily Trust reported on Tuesday that the gunmen stormed the hospital on Friday, April 25, 2025 and shot the deceased, simply identified as Alex Ogunniyi, at a close range.

It was gathered that patients who were at the hosptal scampered for safety during the incident.

Some the health workers on Monday protested the murder of their colleague inside the hospital facility.

The protesters called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and protect other health workers in and out of the hospital.

UBTH spokesperson, Joshua Uwaila, confirmed the incident, saying the hospital authorities had reported the matter to the security agencies.

“A physiotherapist with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital was shot dead on Friday,” he said.
