Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong has blamed Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal for the brawl that broke out after both sides’ LaLiga El Clásico clash on Sunday.

Recall that Real Madrid’s El Clásico win against Barcelona ended with a brawl between the players, with Lamine Yamal at the centre of it.

Two goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham ensured the Los Blancos defeated the Blaugrana at the Santiago Bernabeu as Fermin Lopez’s goal was not enough for Hansi Flick’s side.

However, after the final whistle, Yamal was the main target for Real Madrid following comments he made about Xabi Alonso’s side ahead of the encounter.

The 18-year-old winger had recently said on a YouTube channel about Madrid: “They rob [a reference to refereeing decisions], they complain, they do things.”

But speaking to reporters after the game, De Jong was not impressed with Carvajal’s behavior towards Yamal as he questioned the Real Madrid star.

“If Carvajal wanted to speak to Lamine [Yamal], he could do so in private,” De Jong said.

“If he thinks he should not do things like [make those comments], he could call him. They are teammates [with Spain], they know each other. Why do you’ve to make a scene on the pitch?

“Lamine didn’t say that they rob, not directly. I have not heard Lamine say exactly that.

“I can understand Madrid’s players, but the reaction was exaggerated.”
