Luis Enrique and Vincent Kompany speak on the Diaz-Hakimi injury incident after the PSG vs Bayern Munich UCL fixture.
Head coaches of the two sides involved in the PSG vs Bayern Munich fixture, Luis Enrique and Vincent Kompany, in their post-match press conferences, have addressed the Luis Diaz and Achraf Hakimi injury incident.
Paris Saint-Germain endured a difficult evening against Bayern Munich, trailing twice in the first half courtesy of Luis Díaz’s brace. Their troubles deepened when Achraf Hakimi suffered an injury after a challenge from Díaz.
The Moroccan full-back left the pitch in tears, unable to put weight on his left foot and requiring assistance to exit the field. After a VAR check, Díaz was shown a straight red card, forcing Bayern to play the entire second half with 10 men.
Despite the advantage, PSG could only pull one goal back. The match concluded 2–1 in Bayern Munich’s favor at the Parc des Princes, marking a frustrating home defeat for Luis Enrique’s side.
What did Vincent Kompany say about Hakimi’s injury?
Following the game, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany addressed the media and offered words of support for Achraf Hakimi.
“The main thing now is that we’re wishing Hakimi a speedy recovery,” Kompany said. “It was an intense match filled with emotion — that’s exactly how it felt at the final whistle. In the end, we stuck together and got the result. Of course, we’d have preferred to continue in the second half the same way we started, but sometimes matches take a different turn after incidents like the red card.”
Kompany also praised his players’ defensive resilience after being reduced to 10 men.
“I always tell the team that defending is something to enjoy too,” he added. “We put a lot of effort into it in training, so I wasn’t surprised by how well we managed. The first half was excellent; the second required a different kind of performance. We know the Champions League is far from over, but this was a massive three points for us today.”
What did Luis Enrique say about Hakimi’s injury?
Enrique also commented on the incident, choosing not to place blame on Luis Díaz for Hakimi’s injury, describing it instead as a natural part of the game’s physical nature.
“He played for as long as you all saw,” Enrique said. “Hakimi’s situation is something that happens in football — it’s a contact sport. It’s unfortunate and difficult for the players to deal with. I remember when Musiala suffered a similar injury. The medical team will carry out further assessments tomorrow and provide an update.”
