Former Liverpool defender, Jose Enrique, has labelled Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) after the Argentine made a stellar debut for his team on Friday.

Messi scored a late free-kick in injury time to ensure Inter Miami defeated Cruz Azul 2-1 in a Leagues Cup encounter.

The former Barcelona captain came on as a 54th minute substitute during the encounter.

Messi’s performance for Inter Miami sent USA football fans into a frenzy.

After the game, Messi wrote on Instagram: “LET’S GO!!! It was very important to start this @leaguescup with a victory for us and also for all our people. We continue…”

His post has already amassed close to 12million likes on Instagram and several celebrities, including fellow players have reacted.

Responding to Messi’s post, Enrique, who represented clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United in the Premier League, left a GOAT emoji in the comments.
