Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has moved to clarify his recent remarks about the club’s supporters, insisting his words were misunderstood and taken out of context.

The Italian tactician stressed that his comments were never meant as criticism of the fans, but rather as an honest reflection on the challenges of building a new team and identity at Stamford Bridge. Maresca explained the importance of Chelsea’s fanbase, describing their backing as a crucial part of the club’s DNA.

He said,

“I have nothing to add. My focus is on tomorrow’s game and achieving the third semi-final in my time at the club. I said what I had to say very clearly. We focus on Cardiff now”.

He acknowledged the passion and high expectations that come with managing a club of Chelsea’s stature, noting that supporters have every right to demand strong performances and consistent results. According to Maresca, success is a collective effort, and harmony between the team, coaching staff, and supporters will be vital as Chelsea continues their push for stability and long-term progress.

Chelsea face Cardiff in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup as they look to reach the semi-final of the competition. The Blues supporters will hope they can build on the victory over Everton in the Premier League as they look forward to win their first competition of the 2025/26 season.
