One of the revelations of Chelsea Football Club this season has been the club’s defender Josh Acheampong who has been impressive since the beginning of this season.
The performance of Josh Acheampong has not gone unnoticed by Chelsea supporters and its head coach Enzo Maresca. The Italian was speaking in an interview with Chelsea TV where he spoke about how impressed he has been with the English defender.
He said,
“We are happy with the way he’s improving and the way he is working every day, but I have been since I arrived, to be honest. So I hope he feels trusted and part of the group, more than what we are showing to him. It’s difficult to play in the Champions League and to play from the start in the Premier League, so we show him trust and confidence.”
He also spoke about hiw Chelsea has been this season when it comes to conceding goals as compared to the 2024/25 season.
He said,
“For sure the moment that you have two central defenders for instance last season we played the first five or six months with Wes and Levi [Colwill] – it’s good because of the combination and they can grow together. But in this moment we are trying to rotate and for sure slowly, slowly we are getting better. But consistency is always better in any aspect, for players, for the team, for anyone.”
The Blues are currently in ninth place on the league. However, the fans will hope the team are in full gear and strength going into the rest of the season.
