The head coach of Chelea Enzo Maresca will be leading his team to Old Trafford as they look to get back to winning ways with Alejandro Garnacho been the center of conversation.
Alejandro Garnacho completed his move from Manchester United to Chelsea during the 2025 summer transfer window and will most likely not get a perfect reception when he returns to Old Trafford on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Maresca was speaking ahead of the game during his pre-match press conference where he confirmed that Garnacho is ready to start the game against the Red Devils. He also spoke about the poor form of Manchester United under Ruben Amorim but believes it is just a temporary phase.
“The only thing I can say, I really appreciate Ruben [Amorim]. I watched his games since in Sporting. He’s a magnificent manager. Sometimes you can struggle a little bit more or less [at the start of a project]. I have no doubt he’s a fantastic manager. It’s always difficult to play United away at Old Trafford, so I don’t think now, next year or last year is the right moment. It’s a difficult game and stadium.”
He also highlighted Chelsea’s lack of win in the last two games against Brentford and Bayern Munich but insisted that he is not under pressure going into the game against United.
“I have pressure all the games [not just after a loss], I try to win all the games. I think Bayern Munich away, PSG away, Barcelona away, are the worst stadiums to play away in the first game of the Champions League.”
What did Enzo Maresca say on Alejandro Garnacho starting against Manchester United?
He said,
“In the last two games, he was inside very good. We are happy in the way he is adapting to our style. If he’s ready to start tomorrow? I think he is ready to start [vs Man United].”
Chelsea have failed to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford since 2013. Maresca will hope he can end that drought when he leads his team to the Theatre of Dreams.
