Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has identified England international, Morgan Rogers, as the player that could destroy Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
He described the player as a ‘special’ talent after he helped Aston Villa beat West Ham away on Saturday.
According to Carragher, the attacking midfielder will likely be ‘key’ if Aston Villa are to go all the way to win the Premier League title.
Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen had given West Ham the lead on Sunday either side of Konstantinos Mavropanos’ own goal at the London Stadium .
But Rogers equalised for the visitors in the 50th minute and later provided the winner with a 25-yard strike to beat Areola and send Villa’s away supporters into a frenzy.
“The upturn in form since what we saw in those first few weeks of the season is just a complete contrast,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“But Morgan Rogers is something special. Aston Villa have one of the best players in the Premier League.
“He just seems to be one of those players who sort of came from nowhere in some ways,” he added.
“He’s now looking like one of the best players in the Premier League.
“That could be key if Aston Villa do feel that they could go on and contest the league title or actually go on and win it.
“But with Aston Villa, who could drive them to the title? The one player I look at is Morgan Rogers.”
