Chelsea striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, was left furious with manager Graham Potter’s decision to replace him, having come on as a substitute himself in their Premier League 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Thursday night.

Aubameyang was called upon by Potter to replace Raheem Sterling after the England international suffered a suspected hamstring injury in the opening five minutes of the clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Gabonese star was unable to impress during the tie, however, he suffered the ignominy of being replaced himself after 68 minutes by Omari Hutchinson, with Chelsea chasing an equaliser.

The disconsolate former Arsenal captain was seen shaking his head as he was hooked and barely acknowledged Potter as he left the pitch.

The 33-year-old was left ‘very angry’ by the decision, according to Sport.

However, Potter downplayed the incident in his post-match press conference, insisting he was pleased with Aubameyang’s performance and explaining the change was down to the player’s lack of minutes recently.

Aubameyang will now hope to start for the Blues when they face Man City in the FA Cup clash on Sunday.
