Former Manchester United defender, Gabriel Heinze, has been credited for Arsenal’s success this season.

The Gunners’ goalkeeper, David Raya, said that things have been different since Heinze joined the coaching staff at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side have only recorded one defeat and one draw this season, narrowly losing to Liverpool at Anfield and drawing with Manchester City in the early stages.

The Gunners have been superb since then, winning four matches on the bounce in the Premier League.

The north London side now sit top of the division following recent setbacks witnessed by the Reds and City.

Arsenal have been exceptional in their defence, conceding just three goals in their 10 Premier League matches.

Raya offered credit to Heinze, who won the top-flight league with Manchester United.

Raya feels that the attitude of the Argentinian has been a welcome addition.

“He [Heinze] is a guy, he’s a coach, where he wants us to fight – a lot of intensity,” Raya said following Arsenal’s win over Burnley on Saturday.

“To win games, you have to defend very well, especially in this league. This is the toughest league in the world.

“You have to be very, very, very solid to be able to win games. Normally, the games are won by one goal.

“So, it’s really, really important to keep that asset from us, from everyone. Not just the back line, just every single player. So, it’s a lot of credit to him[Heinze] as well.”

Arsenal will now make a trip to the Fortuna Arena where they will face Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday.
