Fulham boss, Marco Silva, has named the most agile, strongest, and quickest centre-back at the club.
According to him, Nigeria international Calvin Bassey is the club’s most agile and quickest centre-back.
Silva said this ahead of Fulham’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United this weekend.
Bassey played only eight minutes in Fulham’s last Premier League game, a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Craven Cottage, due to fitness issues after representing the Super Eagles during the international break.
Speaking to the press ahead of their trip to St. James’ Park, Silva praised Bassey for his consistency, athleticism, and strength.
He said the Nigeria international offers qualities that set him apart from the other centre-backs at the club.
“Calvin had an amazing season last season; his season was at a top, top level. He’s a very good central defender, very strong and quick,” Silva said.
“He gives us, in some moments, different things than the others because he’s the most agile one, he’s the quickest one, and very strong in individual duels too.
“Normally, when they play with Nigeria, it is very difficult for them. They just arrive 48 hours before the game, it’s always difficult.”
Bassey had played from the beginning to the end in every Fulham game this season before the match against Arsenal.
