Former Barcelona striker, Gary Lineker has pointed out two prominent teams he believes will fall short of the Premier League’s top four this season.
Lineker predicted that Aston Villa will secure a place in the top four alongside Arsenal and Manchester City, while either Manchester United, Chelsea, or Liverpool will be left out of this elite group.
This scenario suggests that only one of these three clubs will be able to join Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Arsenal in the top four, meaning two will miss out.
On The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker said, “I would go Aston Villa making it into the top four. I think that two of either United, Chelsea, or Liverpool will miss out.”
Lineker further noted concerns expressed by Liverpool manager Arne Slot regarding the Reds’ potential failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Currently, Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa, and United occupy the top four spots in the Premier League.
