Former England defender, Glen Johnson, has predicted that Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions this season.

The Reds are currently top with 35 points after 14 fixtures, with a game in hand over Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Blues are in second with 31, while the Gunners are third with 29 points.

City sit in fourth position on 27 points amid a drop-off under Pep Guardiola this term.

Johnson, speaking with Betfred, said he isn’t expecting to see much change come the end of the season.

“I don’t think you can write [Chelsea] off at the moment,” Johnson said.

“They’re certainly taking the right steps forward and the manager’s doing the right thing by trying to take the pressure off the team and allow them to perform without it.

“They’re very consistent, they’re winning games, the hard way sometimes, but whether they can sustain it for an entire season is something we don’t know yet. At the moment, they’re right in the race.

“I think Arsenal will come good because they’ve been so consistent for the last couple of years, so I guess that Chelsea will finish third.”
