Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on the club’s new captain, Bruno Fernandes.

Man United had on Thursday announced Fernandes as the club’s captain.

The Portugal international replaced Harry Maguire, who was recently stripped off the Red Devils’ captaincy by manager Erik ten Hag.

Reacting to the development, Ferdinand, in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle, said Fernandes likes taking risks, adding that the midfielder will thrive well in his new responsibility.

“What an honour it is to play for Man Utd but to be given the extra responsibility to lead the team out is something special,” Ferdinand posted on Twitter.

“Bruno has delivered numbers [and] performances throughout his time in a red shirt that makes his announcement as captain an inevitable one.

“He takes risks, he craves responsibility, wants to be the difference – all great traits. I really think he will thrive. Good luck.”
