Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen has expressed hope that winger Mohamed Salah has not played his last game for the club after he came off the bench to help the Reds defeat Brighton 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Recall that Salah dominated the headlines over the past one week after his controversial comments about Liverpool and their manager Arne Slot.

Salah came on from the bench and provided an assist to Hugo Ekitike during the encounter against Brighton at Anfield.

He did fine [against Brighton]. He did quite well,” Owen told Premier League Productions.

“He was quite unselfish at times. He certainly put in a shift, he was running a lot more than in previous games. He would have been desperate to get on the score sheet of course, but he did okay.

“I think everybody at Liverpool will be pleased that he is back in the fray. They have won the game, clean sheet and service has resumed in many ways.

“All that he’s done for the club, it would be awful to finish his career at Liverpool getting booed off, but that never happened.

“And hopefully that was, “I will see you in a month or so because I’m off to represent my country”, and normal service has resumed. Hopefully, it is not a, “goodbye, I am going and I’m going for good”.”
