Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, is not too pleased with striker Marcus Rashford after he was dropped by manager Erik ten Hag for their Premier League match against Wolves on Saturday due to an ‘internal disciplinary issue’.

Recall that Ten Hag had confirmed before kick-off that the 25-year-old England attacker was named as a substitute as punishment for a disciplinary problem.

But Ferdinand has now backed Ten Hag’s decision to maintain discipline in his Man United squad, adding that was disappointing that Rashford was dropped to the bench against Wolves because of a disciplinary issue.

“Per 90 minutes, this has been his [Rashford’s] best return for goals and assists in his Man United career, it is disappointing,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“You come here as a fan and you want to see your best players playing, he is in form, he is one of the best players, one of the first names on the team sheet at this moment in time, so it is very disappointing to see.

“But on the same note, you are pleased that the manager is keeping to form in that if there are things going on behind the scenes that he is not happy with, people get disciplined.”

Rashford scored the only goal of the match in the second half as Man United defeated Wolves 1-0.
