Manchester City Defender, Manuel Akanji is a doubt for the Premier League match against Arsenal this weekend after picking up an injury while on international duty with Switzerland.

The 28-year-old will miss his country’s friendly against Ireland due to the knock, which leaves him at risk of missing Sunday’s showdown with Arsenal at the Etihad.

Akanji has started in the last 16 matches for Switzerland and has been an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s side this season, featuring in 19 of Man City’s 28 league matches since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

This setback comes just days after Kyle Walker was forced off playing for England in Saturday night’s friendly 1-0 defeat against Brazil due to a hamstring injury.

It remains to be seen if Akanji will recover in time for the crucial clash against Arsenal this weekend.
