Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has said that Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta will never regret signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

According to the Englishman, the Arsenal boss will be ‘thanking God’ for making that particular deal happen.

Eze joined Arsenal last transfer window in a deal worth about £67.5million.

The Gunners overtook Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League table going into the October international break.

This was following Mikel Arteta’s side’s 2-0 win over West Ham and back-to-back losses for title rivals, Liverpool.

Arsenal signed a good number of players over the summer and this has helped them to keep going despite their injury woes.

Speaking on his Rio Presents podcast, Ferdinand hailed the depth of the Arsenal squad and singled out Eze.

“I think Mikel Arteta is sitting there saying, ‘Thank God we went and got [Eberechi] Eze. Thank God that the board backed me and I’ve got a ready made replacement in Eze’,” Ferdinand said.

“Because I don’t think he’s the type who would have put [Ethan] Nwaneri or [Max] Dowman into that position.

“I think he could play both of them [Eze and Odegaard] at times. But it’s a great problem to have.”

Due to the quality of their signings last summer, some believe the Gunners are the favourites to win the Premier League.
