Former Chelsea star, Chris Sutton has named the Premier League’s five greatest midfielders.

There is no place for legendary Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, in his list.

At number five, Sutton picked former Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is in fourth place, behind current Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

“Patrick Vieira at five. I mean just the way he lifted that Arsenal team, the greatest Arsenal team I’ve ever seen in my lifetime,” Sutton told the It’s All Kicking Off podcast as he selected his top five.

“Frank Lampard at four, his numbers, the goals he scored. A lot of penalties.

“The artist Kevin De Bruyne at three. What can’t he do? He’s got such unbelievable awareness. Eyes in the back of his head.”

Two Manchester United legends are next in Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, with Sutton having beaten both to the title in the 1994/1995 campaign.
