Former Manchester City and Arsenal star, Bacary Sagna has said he hopes the Gunners will win the Premier League this season.
He mentioned how strong the Arsenal team is and thanked the head coach, Mikel Arteta, saying he “deserves” to win.
The team from north London has come in second place in the Premier League rankings in the past three years.
However, they are leading the league after 28 games this season, five points ahead of Manchester City, who have played 27 games.
Both teams are also set to meet at the Etihad in April. Meanwhile, Bacary Sagna, who has played for both teams, has stated that he hopes the Gunners will win the Premier League against Manchester City.
He told Ladbrokes via Metro, “Mikel Arteta is the right person for the situation Arsenal are in right now.
“When you see that Arsenal have come in second place for the last three years, anyone who has played in the Premier League understands how tough it is to keep up that high level and keep trying to win titles over such a long time.
“Man City, during their first few seasons, were really hard to catch up with because they had such a strong and deep squad.
“Arsenal have gradually built their team over time, adding good players in each transfer window, which has helped them get to where they are now. In the past, if one of the starting eleven players got injured, it made a big difference for the team and affected the outcomes a lot.
“Now, every position has good cover, and there’s a lot of quality on the bench. Sagna said that he and his family have always liked the Gunners, and he hopes to see a different team win than Manchester City,” he said:
“If I had to pick one team to win the league this season, I would probably choose Arsenal.
“Man City have won it so many times in recent years, and it won’t make much of a difference for them. For me, they will still be the best team in the world over the past five years.
“I want to see some changes, and I hope Arsenal gets recognition for all the hard work they’ve put in over the past few years. The fans have been really supportive, so I’d like to see them happy and celebrating at the end of the season. Then I’ll go back to 55% Arsenal and 45% Man City,” he added.
Sagna moved to the Gunners from AJ Auxerre in 2007 and played 284 matches for them, helping the team win the FA Cup. In 2014, he moved to Manchester City for free and played 86 matches over three years, helping the team win the EFL Cup.
