Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has suggested that Aston Villa and Manchester City are the teams that can challenge the Gunners for the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal still maintain the top of the Premier League table, with two points ahead of second-placed Man City and three points ahead of third-placed Aston Villa.

This comes after Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League over the weekend.

Asked whether Aston Villa should be considered title contenders to compete against Arsenal after their comeback 3-2 win against West Ham, Walcott said on BBC’s Match of the Day: “I think so, I do.

“When you have a difficult start to the season, it can go one of two ways as a team and a squad, but Unai Emery has obviously got that confidence in them.

“They are playing some good stuff at this moment in time, so for me they are a problem. But I am concerned about Man City.”
