Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has claimed Wout Weghorst has been a more profitable player than Cristiano Ronaldo was at the club.

Neville was asked by Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football, to decide whether he would prefer to have Ronaldo or Weghorst in the current United team.

Weghorst was brought in on-loan from Burnley in the January transfer window, a month after Ronaldo’s contract at Old Trafford was cancelled.

The Dutchman has, however, struggled to impress, scoring only twice in cup competitions. But Neville reckons he adds more to the team than Ronaldo.

“Weghorst has 12 wins, four draws, three defeats, he has only scored two goals but the team has scored 37 goals, with Ronaldo it was 19 starts, they won three less games, drawn three, lost four more with him in the team, he scored 11 but the team itself only scored 23, they are massive difference,” Neville said.

“The strangeness of football is having a player who isn’t good enough to be a Manchester United forward but has brought more profit to the team. I believe he (Ronaldo) is the greatest player of all time.”

The Red Devils slipped out of the top four on Monday night, following Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at Everton.
