Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has admitted his side lack pace through the middle, following their 2-0 defeat at Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Guardiola also said the Reds were “stronger in the duels”.

Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah scored in each half to hand the hosts all three points.

City barely threatened Liverpool and are now 11 points off Arne Slot’s men.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola said: “We didn’t think we can lose one game, two games. Losing six or seven is wow, it is a lot, but it is what it is, accept it.

“But we don’t have the pace in the middle right now and they [Liverpool] are stronger in the duels and you have to survive with the ball.

“We’re not good in transitions over 30-40 metres compared to them. We had to adapt and we did it. I cannot forget which players I have.”
