Brighton manager, Fabian Hurzeler, has suggested why his team defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Hurzeler watched as goals from James Milner and Brajan Gruda gave Brighton the victory against City.

Erling Haaland did score a goal for Pep Guardiola’s side at the American Express Stadium.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day after Brighton’s victory against City, Hurzeler suggested that Brighton’s substitutes made the difference during the encounter.

According to him, his team showed belief against the visitors.

“Sometimes football is not too much about tactics,” Hurzeler said.

“It is about energy, intensity and togetherness on the pitch. The substitutes came in and made the difference.

“You can always spread energy and it gives your teammates and the whole crowd energy and that’s very important in football.

“What we did after we scored the goal and the subs [substitutes] is that we had the belief. We weren’t happy and satisfied with the 1-1, we wanted to go for the second and we deserved it.”
