Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has kicked against Chelsea’s move to appoint Liam Rosenior as their next manager.

Nevile is insisting that a club like Chelsea with a set of young players need an experienced manager and not a young coach.

He said the appointment of Rosenior will not bring the Blues any closer to the Premier League title.

Barring any last-minute issues, Rosenior will be appointed as the new Chelsea manager after Enzo Maresca left the role on New Year’s Day.

Rosenior will leave French Ligue1 side Strasbourg, to arrive at Stamford Bridge on Monday for face-to-face talks with the Chelsea hierarchy.

Chelsea will appoint Rosenior before their next game.

“You genuinely can’t win anything with kids. That’s a fact. Alan Hansen was completely correct,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast.

“Chelsea could use some more experienced people both inside the team and around the club. If you have young players playing, I also think you need a manager who has a lot of experience.

“It seems they are planning to hire another young manager once more. I just think young players need someone to guide them and show them the way.”

Chelsea’s lively 1-1 draw against Man City keeps them in fifth place in the Premier League, three points behind the teams that qualify for the Champions League.
