Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has sent a title warning to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Neville said the Gunners need to ‘wake up’ or the title will be far beyond their reach before they realise what was happening.

Bukayo Saka put Arsenal in front against Wolves from a corner that went in off goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone with 20 minutes remaining.

Tolu Arokodare equalised for Wolves through Mateus Mane’s cross in the 90th minute.

But Yerson Mosquera scored an own goal to ensure Wolves’ miserable run continued and kept Arsenal in the lead.

Manchester City closed the gap between them and Arsenal to just two points again following a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Neville believes Mikel Arteta’s side would have been within his rights to give his players ‘a little bit of a telling off’ in the dressing room.

“If  you play like that too many times then you won’t win this league,” he told NBC Sports.

“It’s a little bit of both but if I was in the dressing room I’d be giving myself a little bit of a slap around the face and saying, ‘Wake up, come on! We’re going to be in danger if we carry on playing at this level.’

“There has been a little bit of a dip for Arsenal in terms of performance.

“But it was important that they did get those three points, that is vital.”

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League title race on 36 points followed by Manchester City on 34 and Aston Villa occupying the third position on 33 points, five points better than fourth-placed Chelsea.
