Super Eagles player Alex Iwobi has said that Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo caused him an injury during Fulham’s 3-2 loss at Old Trafford last weekend.
Iwobi, a crucial player for Marco Silva’s team this season, played the entire 90 minutes as Fulham made a late comeback, but they were defeated by a last-minute goal from Benjamin Sesko.
On his Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, Iwobi showed his injured finger and mentioned Mainoo’s strength, jokingly linking it to the midfielder’s Ghanaian background. “Shout-out to Kobbie Mainoo,” he said.
“But Kobbie, you finished my hand. Kobbie, you absolutely finished my hand. This guy has got Ghanaian strength.”
Iwobi also praised teammate Kevin Santos Lopes, who scored his first goal for Fulham and briefly tied the game, calling it “a mad goal.”
“It was a good performance to bring it back. Shout out to Kevin, scoring his first goal—what a goal, by the way. That was an extraordinary goal.”
He also praised Raul Jimenez for his calmness during the penalty kick while expressing disappointment over conceding in the final moments.
“It was a solid performance, and Raul [Jimenez] clearly doesn’t miss when taking a penalty. Obviously, we felt hard done by with them scoring in the last minute of the game,” he concluded.
Iwobi has continued performing well for Fulham this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 18 league games.
