Portugal’s head coach, Roberto Martinez, has said that captain Cristiano Ronaldo is prepared to lead the team to the Euro 2024 competition.

Martinez also said Ronaldo is a reference in the locker room for other Portugal players to emulate, insisting that the Al-Nassr captain is very important to the team.

He stated this following Ronaldo’s brace in Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier 6-0 win over Luxemburg on Sunday.

Reacting to Ronaldo’s display after the game, Martinez hailed the 38-year-old’s experience at the international level.

He said (via Record): “He [Ronaldo] is very important, he has a unique experience at an international level.

“For us, he is important because he is a reference in the locker room and he is prepared to lead [the team to Euro 2024] and be the captain of this selection.”
