Sporting Lisbon head coach, Ruben Amorim has revealed that AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, sent him a message after his team eliminated Arsenal from the Europa League.
Amorim watched as Sporting defeated Arsenal 5-3 in a penalty shootout to qualify for the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
The Europa League round of 16 second-leg tie between Arsenal and Sporting had ended in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Recall that both teams drew 2-2 in the first leg last week in Portugal.
Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game at Emirates Stadium, Amorim told reporters: “There will never be another Mourinho.
“He is one of a kind, and he has already sent me a message saying that the old man and the young one have both qualified to the next round.”
