Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has described Fred as “a mosquito” following their 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday.
Fred was tasked with man-marking Frenkie de Jong in the second leg of the Round of 32 tie at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian carried out his duties perfectly, working hard to keep De Jong quiet.
The midfielder then went on to make it 1-1 after Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring with a penalty.
“Fred? His role was to stop Frenkie de Jong, he was like a ‘mosquito’ all over him — he did it,” Ten Hag said after the game.
